Mike and Ange welcome you to their detached 1970's dormer bungalow.

Modifications:
We replaced the leaky roof which allowed us to add 70mm of Celotex between the rafters and increase the depth of fibreglass in the roof voids. We removed the old oil boiler and tank and replaced it with an ASHP with upgraded radiators. We added solar panels (Apprx 6kw) with a 3.68kw invertor and 10kwh of battery storage. We replaced the windows and doors with upvc double glazed units.

Motivation to retrofit:
We were already renovating the property and took the opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint and future bills at the same time.

Approximate cost:
Solar and ASHP systems approx £30,000

Benefits:
Low monthly bills, the house is always warm in winter and no oil tank!
