Leylines is a detached house built in the fifties on a solid concrete slab with cavity walls and extended in the sixties. Previous owners had improved the performance of the building fabric with cavity fill, loft insulation and double glazing, but we wanted to bring it to a far higher standard of insulation and airtightness as well as reducing dependence on fossil fuels with an air source heat pump, solar panels and battery.

The retrofit and refurbishment has taken about nine months and not been cheap, but has resulted in a house which should be warm, comfortable and very economical to heat.
