Yolande and Andrew have been living a sustainable lifestyle on Howle Hill near Ross-on-Wye for 12 years, growing their own vegetables and fruits using permaculture, biodynamics and natural farming methods.

Now they have permission for a small scale eco house that does not use concrete for its foundations. The walls will be made out of hempcrete (a carbon negative material), and there will be a green roof. They will have a waterless toilet so the toilet materials will be composted to provide a resource for their fruit trees. All of the grey water from the house will go directly into the garden to be used as resources and provide nutrients for their crops. No waste will leave the site and there will be no nutrient pathway to the River Wye.
