David welcomes you to his semi-detached 19th century stone cottage retrofit which he insulated as a DIY project with the support of a small local builder.

Green features:
We installed internal insulation on all external walls, put in double glazing throughout, built a front porch & have installed an ev point. We chose not to install a heat pump.

Motivations to make changes:
Best value-for-money with a limited budget

Approximate costs:
Insulation £5000? EV point - £1000

Approximate energy savings:
No idea

Benefits:
Warmer in winter, cooler in summer - particularly good during a heat wave

Next steps:
Solar panels are next dependent on cost & roof suitability. We came very close to installing a heat pump but didn't because we weren't sure it would work (+ the cost).
