Other Turn up for house tours at given times
Barrie welcomes you to his Grade 2 listed farmhouse which has undergone extensive refurbishment to improve the thermal performance for heating by use of an air source heat pump.
Modifications:
- insulated lime crete floors
- internal wall insulation / draught sealing
- improved joinery
- recycled materials
The system has been designed for an air source heat pump which will be installed when the building work is complete. There is a below ground floor heating array and larger rads to 1st floor.
Motivation to retrofit:
Reduce reliance on fossil fuels
Approximate costs:
£150k
Approximate energy savings:
To be assessed
Benefits:
Provision of relatively low maintenance and sustainable listed home.
Who did the work:
System design / calcs etc by Richard Hill, Intelligent Energy Systems (Bishops Castle)
Various self employed people that i'd recommend plus some DIY.
Future plans:
This is a work in progress with an extended time frame allowing for sympathetic enhancement to an historic building.
Considered roof mounted solar array on outbuilding and provision of draught stop porch but proposals rejected by Herefordshire Council conservation officer.
