Annie and Brendan welcome you to their detached house built in 1934. When we moved in (2016) it had double glazing in the majority of the windows and cavity wall insulation.
Modifications:
Put secondary glazing over the original decorative window, added an orangery, added more insulation to the loft, installed a new gas boiler, solar panels, a battery and EV charging point. Put in six water butts to collect rain water.
Motivation to retrofit:
Improve heat retention, lower electricity bills.
Approximate cost:
£10,000 for solar panels, battery and ev charging point.
Benefits:
Warmer, lovely orangery.
