Barrie welcomes you to his Grade II listed 16th century farmhouse which has undergone extensive refurbishment to improve the thermal performance for heating by use of an air source heat pump.
Learn from an expert: Barrie is a surveyor and quantity surveyor.
Modifications:
- insulated lime crete floors
- internal wall insulation / draught sealing
- improved joinery
- recycled materials
- secondary glazing
- air source heat pump with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs
Motivation to retrofit:
Reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and prior to improvement the house had an EPG of G.
Approximate costs:
£150k
Approximate energy savings:
To be assessed
Benefits:
Provision of relatively low maintenance and sustainable listed home.
Who did the work:
System design / calcs etc by Richard Hill, Intelligent Energy Systems (Bishops Castle)
Various self employed people that i'd recommend plus some DIY.
Future plans:
Reapply for a modern glazed porch and to site solar PV on outbuilding.
Considered MVHR but inadequate space to design duct routes in listed building.
